Life in Dangjin
Soft food from home: what to eat in Dangjin after dental treatment
Why food matters after treatment
After an extraction or implant, a blood clot forms in the socket. Very hot, spicy, hard or sticky food, straws and alcohol can disturb it and slow healing. The good news: many home cuisines already have gentle dishes.
Gentle dishes by cuisine
- Vietnamese: phở or bún with soft noodles, let the broth cool to lukewarm, skip the chilli.
- Chinese and Yanbian: plain rice congee (粥), steamed egg, soft tofu. Save the lamb skewers for next week.
- Uzbek and Central Asian: lagman broth with soft noodles, or shurpa. Avoid the crisp crust of samsa and hard bread for a few days.
- Nepali and Indian: dal with soft rice, khichdi. Go easy on spice.
- Thai: jok rice porridge rather than tom yum.
- Filipino: arroz caldo or lugaw.
- Korean: juk (rice porridge) shops are everywhere and many deliver.
After whitening
For a day or two, choose light-coloured food. Curry, dark soy sauce, coffee and strong tea can stain freshly whitened teeth.

Usually after a few days for a simple extraction. Follow the written instructions we give you, which depend on the treatment.
Can I drink beer after an extraction?
Avoid alcohol for at least the first few days; it can slow healing and interacts with some painkillers.
