Life in Dangjin
A weekend in Dangjin: Waemok, Solmoe and Sapgyoho

Waemok Village
Because of the way the coast curves, Waemok is one of the few places on Korea's west coast where you can see both the sunrise and the sunset over the sea. It is busy on New Year's morning.
Solmoe Holy Ground
The birthplace of St. Andrew Kim Dae-geon, the first Korean Catholic priest. The pine forest and quiet paths are open to everyone, and Pope Francis visited in 2014. Nearby Hapdeok Catholic Church is a beautiful old brick church.
Sapgyoho Lake
A seaside resort area by the lake and sea, with seafood restaurants, a walking path and a park with retired navy ships you can go inside. Good for families.
Ami Art Museum
A small art museum in a former elementary school, known for its painted classrooms and garden. Popular with photographers.
Getting there
Most places are easiest by car or taxi. City buses run from Dangjin Bus Terminal, but services can be infrequent on weekends, so check times before you go.
A note from the dentist
Planning a seafood feast? Crab and shellfish shells crack teeth more often than you think. Use the crackers, not your molars.
